The Assistant Pool Manager shall be the delegated authority of the Pool Manager and, consequently, the Willow Grove Swimming Club Board of Governors (Board) in the day-to-day operations of the Club.  He/She shall be directly responsible to the Pool Manager in his/her day-to-day activities and shall assist him/her in periodically reporting to the Board on the Club's operations in the following areas: pool operations, opening/closing plans and activities, staffing and Club programs.

 

Responsibilities:

The Assistant Pool Manager shall be at the Club with the staff one hour prior to the official time of opening and remain at the Club at least fifteen minutes after the official time of closing to ensure that the Club is in proper condition for both opening and closing.  The official hours of operation shall be set by the Board and announced by May of that season.  The Assistant Pool Manager shall be directly responsible for the management of the Club during his/her assigned hours of operation.  The Assistant Manager shall be physically present at the Club during all his/her assigned hours of operation.  The Assistant Manager shall actually open and close the Club facilities on each of his/her assigned days during the Swim Season.

The Assistant Pool Manager shall be responsible for enforcement of the Club's Rules and Regulations.

The Assistant Pool Manager shall be responsible for maintaining the Club's pool, equipment, facilities and grounds in good condition and working order.  The Assistant Pool Manager shall be responsible to adhere to the regular schedule of maintenance and housekeeping and advise the Pool Manager of any necessary repairs.  The Assistant Pool Manager shall adhere to the day-to-day checklist of maintenance and preparations for all Club functions such as, opening and closing activities, swim meets, picnics, socials, etc.

The Assistant Pool Manager shall know and regularly review safety and emergency procedures for the Club in accordance with local and state codes.

 

Staffing:

The Assistant Pool Manager shall supervise the staff for proper management of the Club.

The Assistant Pool Manager shall assist in scheduling the staff to assure adequate supervision of the Club and its members at all times.

The Assistant Pool Manager shall be responsible to train the staff members in appropriate emergency procedures on a periodic basis and perform emergency procedures' drills on a weekly basis.  The Assistant Pool Manager shall post the emergency procedures in a conspicuous place within the Club such as, at the entrance, at the guard chairs, at the office and at the bulletin board.

The Assistant Pool Manager shall have all the authority and responsibility as the Pool Manager when the Pool Manager is absent from the Club.

 

Maintenance:

The Assistant Pool Manager shall be responsible to implement and execute the maintenance schedule and checklist on a daily basis.  This shall include the following:

1. Weekly scrubbing of the pool gutters.

2. Daily sweeping of the pool decks.

3. Emptying of the trash daily or as needed.

4. Any grooming or cleaning of the Club and its facilities that may be necessary or as directed by the Board.

5. Painting and weeding.

6. Cleaning of changing rooms and sanitary facilities daily or as needed.

 

The Assistant Pool Manager shall be responsible for periodic maintenance of all pumps and filter equipment, all chairs, tables and umbrellas, and all sanitary and changing room facilities during the season.

The Assistant Pool Manager shall consult with the Pool Manager on any major repair or maintenance expense that is required.  The Assistant Pool Manager shall assist in preparing and maintaining an inventory of all the Club's equipment.

 

Programs:

 

The Assistant Pool Manager shall assist the Pool Manager in managing the Club's programs during the swim season.  These programs may include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Swim team - assist the Pool Manager to ensure that adequate and competent staff members are available to manage the Club's swim team during the swim season.

2. Swim lessons - assist the Pool Manager to ensure that adequate and competent staff members are available to teach a quality swim lesson program at the Club.

3. Lifeguard classes - assist the Pool Manager to ensure that the WSI staff member manages and teaches a lifesaving class at the Club during the swim season.

4. Social events - assist the Pool Manager to ensure that adequate staff members are available to assist the Club members, host any social program held at the Club for the benefit of the Club members.  A list of events and required duties shall be issued to the Pool Manager by the Board.

5. Swim meets - assist the Pool Manager at all home swim meets to ensure that adequate staffing, in addition to the assigned swim coaches, is available to properly manage the Club.

 

 

SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
  2. Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  3. Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
  4. Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
  5. Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
  6. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Less than high school with 6 months to 1 year experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • CPR Certified
  • Current certification as Lifeguard by a recognized source of training

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Skill in the application of life guarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
  • Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
